Job Specification - Hospital Sales & Clinical Education Specialist, Interventional Patient Care Team

 

Purpose of Role:

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Hospital Sales & Clinical Education Specialist to deliver profitable growth in sales of Patient Hygiene Products (Patient Cleansing Cloths, Oral Care Consumables), as well as our Specialist Wound Care Portfolio (PolyMem, Coflex, DryMax Dressings).

The role will focus on promoting and supporting the appropriate use of specialist products designed for critically ill and complex patients, in acute care and community, working closely with clinicians and procurement teams.

A significant part of the role will be clinical education. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality, evidence-based education, product training and clinical support to healthcare professionals, helping them understand where products can contribute to improved patient care and clinical outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Hospital Sales & Account Management

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities within hospitals/nursing homes and relevant clinical departments.
  • Manage a defined territory and/or portfolio of hospital accounts, delivering agreed sales and growth targets within specific timelines.
  • Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key hospital stakeholders.
  • Develop account plans based on commercial opportunities.
  • Work collaboratively with clinical teams, purchasing departments and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Understand hospital structures, buying processes, tenders and procurement pathways.
  • Monitor market developments, competitor activity and changes within the healthcare environment.
  • Maintain accurate customer, opportunity and sales information.
  • Forecast sales activity and provide regular updates on territory performance.

 

Clinical Education & Training

  • Deliver engaging, professional and evidence-based educational sessions to healthcare professionals, ensuring appropriate understanding of product features, benefits and application.
  • Develop and deliver presentations, workshops, demonstrations and training sessions for relevant hospital departments.
  • Identify educational needs within customer accounts and develop appropriate training solutions.
  • Support clinicians in understanding the role of products in the management of critically ill and complex patients.
  • Translate clinical evidence and technical information into clear, practical messages for healthcare professionals.
  • Support the development of educational materials and resources.
  • Remain up to date with relevant clinical guidelines, published evidence, treatment pathways and developments within critical care.

 

Customer Support

  • Act as a knowledgeable and credible point of contact for customers.
  • Provide appropriate product and clinical information within the agreed scope of the role.
  • Identify customer needs and communicate insights to the wider business.
  • Support the implementation and adoption of products within hospitals.
  • Where appropriate, support clinical evaluations, product introductions and implementation programmes.
  • Ensure all customer interactions comply with company policies, regulatory requirements and relevant industry codes.

Key Stakeholders

The role will involve engagement with a broad range of stakeholders, including:

  • Critical Care Clinicians
  • Specialist nurses/Clinical educators
  • Consultants and senior doctor
  • Procurement Teams
  • Other relevant multidisciplinary healthcare professionals

Candidate Profile

We are looking for an individual who can combine commercial drive with clinical credibility and excellent communication skills.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor of Science/ Bachelor of Science (Nursing), or previous experience in hospital, healthcare, or medical device sales.
  • Experience working with healthcare professionals in an acute or hospital environment.
  • A strong understanding of, or genuine interest in, the care of critically ill or complex patients.
  • A consultative approach to sales rather than a purely transactional approach.
  • Strong commercial awareness and the ability to identify and convert opportunities.
  • Excellent organisational and territory-management skills.
  • The confidence to engage with senior clinical stakeholders.
  • Be able to work independently, manage a territory effectively and prioritise competing customer and commercial demands.

 

Measures of Success

Success in the role will be measured via commercial outcomes, including:

  • Achievement of sales and growth targets.
  • Development and retention of key hospital accounts.
  • New account development.
  • Quality and frequency of clinical education delivered.
  • Effective territory and account planning.
